In this TED video, Keith Barry first did a demonstration and told the audience to fold their hands a certain way exactly as they saw him do. After everyone had copied his hands, he told everyone to try to simply move untwist their hands their hands back to normal and no one was able to do it except for him. The reason behind this is because the audiences view of keith deceived their brains and mixed up the hand gestures. This is a perfect example of brain magic.
For a second demonstration, he went in a car with a random stranger, and he drove around the block really fast with a blind fold and bag over his head. The stranger in the passenger seat was freaking out along the whole way, but he didn't leave one scratch on the car. The trick behind this act was that he used photo memory to memorize his path and feel the direction the wind blows as he goes. The lady was shocked and amazed but by the end of the ride, the secret of the trick remained unknown for her.
In his next act, he chose two audience members to volunteer to be his presentation dummy's. What he first did for the first demonstratin of the act, was ask the lady to hold a glass coke bottle and a broken shard of glass and think of the shard of glass as an ex lover. Keith created friction by rubbing his hands together and then put the energy around her as she thought. When she felt the vibrations she was to put the broken glass inside the bottle and move the shard around in the bottle. Five second later, the bottom of the whole coke glass exploded. The trick to this is unknown, if there is a trick or secret behind it.
For the last and final example of brain magic, h took the second audience member and sat him down in a chair behind a table with two small circular platforms and one with a sharp point on it. Keith told this man to cover each platform with a cup and mix them around until he doesn't know where they are anymore. Keith grabbed the audience members hand and hovered it over the cups, and asked which one has the sharp point on it. The cup he picked was thankfully the cup without the point, and Keith smashed the cup with his hand. He did the same process and so on, and in the end no ones hand ended up impaled.
In the TED video presentation, I learned how how the brain can be if you control it the right way. At one point when you master it, you can even control other people's brain and the way it functions. It doesn't take much but an open mind and patience.
